ROSE BUD — Velma Dean Hoggard,

98, of Rose Bud, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 3rd. She was born on August 29, 1923 in Russellvil­le, Ark., to parents John and Fanny Fisher. Velma married the love of her life, E. J. “Buster” Hoggard on October 26, 1947. Velma was a hardworkin­g and dedicated employee. During her life she worked as a welder in the ship yards in San Francisco during WWII, worked for Timex and as a Houseparen­t for the Arkansas School for the Deaf. She retired as a Hostess for K.F.C. at the age of 81.

She was a member of the Rose Bud First Baptist Church and was active with her Sunday school. Velma loved to read, crochet and work in her flower garden. Most of all, she loved her children, grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren and cherished each one of them.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, husband and her son, Ronald Frank Hoggard along with her siblings, William Fisher, Leonis Branch, Lillian Scott and Mabel Runnels. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mary Jo (John) Mariner; son, Michael E. (Debra) Hoggard; grandchild­ren Jon Carter Mariner and Christophe­r Neumann Mariner along with great-grandchild­ren Carter Mariner, Maddox Mariner, Harley Jo (Chandler) Nance, Heather Marie Mariner; stepgreat grandchild­ren Cloie (Hunter) Junkersfel­d, Mattie (Austin) Herring and Harley Sentell.

Funeral Service for Velma will be held on Thursday, September 9th at 11 a.m., at Mount Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, 5288 AR36, Rose Bud. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. On Line Guest Register at www.griffinleg­gettresthi­lls.com.
