JAMES WALTER CLARK,

-

94, went to his eternal home on September 10, 2021, joining the love of his life, Dorothy. He was born on November 15, 1926, to Ted and May Clark in Gurdon, Ark., moving to North Little Rock in 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Clark.

He graduated from NLRHS in 1944 and immediately joined the Navy, where he served aboard the USS Pensacola during WWII. After being discharged, he married his sweetheart, Dorothy Elkins, in 1947. While working full time as a Department Chief Supervisor at Teletype and helping to raise three children, Jim successfully completed a degree at UALR. He retired from Teletype in 1987.

Jim was a loyal member of Gardner Memorial Methodist Church since 1952, and it was there he met his closest friends.

He was active in Sunday School, served on many committees, ushered and served as a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 185 for 13 years.

He enjoyed camping and traveling with family and church friends. His favorite places were Buffalo River, Camp Albert Pike, Ouachita, but after purchasing a boat in 1972 Greers Ferry became the new favorite. Many hours were spent teaching people to water ski and he would stay on the lake from dawn to dusk. He had the patience of Job and never tired of doing for others. “Let’s try one more time” was his motto.

He is survived by his children, Ron Clark (Georgia Wyles) of Sherwood, Steve Clark (Barbra Denny) of Springdale and Melissa Clark Barber of Sherwood, nine grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren, one great-greatgrandson, two very special sisters, Mary Beth Stage and Esther Crawford and several nieces and nephews.

Jim will be remembered for his faith in God, love for his family, positive attitude, smile, integrity, character, and the impact he made on all those around him. He was the true definition of a gentleman.

A very special thanks to Jane Faught, Danna Burchfield, Arkansas Hospice, and all the staff and friends at Parkstone Senior Living Center, where he spent the last 10 years enjoying life to the fullest.

Services are provided by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.
