Monday, Sept. 20 House of Bread to open pantry

House of Bread Deliveranc­e Church, 500 S. Main St., will open its food pantry Monday from 1-4:30 or until the 250 food boxes run out, according to a news release. Only one box will per household will be given on a first come, first served basis. Everyone must bring proof of address (utility bills and driver’s license.) Drive-thru settings have ended and food will now be given away inside the church. Seven people at a time will be allowed inside. Masks are required to enter the building for a food box. Caregivers Alzheimer’s supporters to meet

The Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas will host its Caregivers Alzheimer’s Support Group Meeting at 11 a.m. Monday on Zoom. The topic will be Stress Management techniques for Caregivers. People are urged to join Carolyn Ferguson of Area Agency and Nicole Bates, director of education at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) South Central Center on Aging at Pine Bluff. A&P finance panel to meet

The Pine Bluff Advertisin­g and Promotion Commission Finance Committee will meet at noon Monday. The event will be held at the office of the A&P Commission at the ARTSpace, 623 S. Main St., according to a news release. The agenda includes the financial report and proposed 2022 budget.

Ministry group seeks applicants for free home repairs

Ozark Mission Project (OMP), a non-profit ministry of the United Methodist Church (UMC,) will conduct free minor home repairs for people in need in the summer of 2022. Projects include painting, yard work, building wheelchair ramps or making other minor repairs. People who need this assistance should submit an applicatio­n for the free projects. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2022, according to a news release. The group will be stationed at Pine Bluff at First United Methodist Church and work projects July 18-21. Tuesday, Sept. 21 Urban Renewal board to meet

Wednesday, Sept. 22 A&P commission to meet

The Pine Bluff Advertisin­g and Promotion Commission will meet at at 4 p.m. Sept. 22. The meeting will be held at the A&P offices at the ARTSpace, 623 S. Thursday, Sept. 23 United Way to kick off campaign

The United Way of Southeast Arkansas will kick off its fund-raising campaign at noon Sept. 23 in the ballroom of the Pine Bluff Country Club. The announceme­nt will be made during a combined meeting with the Rotary Club of Pine Bluff, according to a newsletter from the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce. United Way will also hold its Day of Caring beginning at 9 a.m. Sept. 24.

VA plans next Virtual Claims Clinic Sept. 23

The Little Rock VA Regional Office will hold another virtual claims clinic for Arkansas veterans from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 23. To schedule a timeslot, veterans are asked to call (501) 370-3829 by Sept. 22 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. During the claims clinic, veterans may speak to staff who are ready to assist them with specific questions regarding VA benefits claims, according to a news release. Beginning Thursday, Sept. 23 Chamber offers candidate course

The Pine Bluff Regional Chamber, in associatio­n with Go Forward Pine Bluff, will host a Candidate Developmen­t Institute (CDI), according to the Chamber newsletter. CDI offers training in the basics of organizing and implementi­ng a campaign for public office. The six-course program will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, starting Sept. 23, at the Chamber, 510 Main St. The course costs $100. Through Friday, Sept. 24 Stormwater program seeks artists

The Jefferson County Cooperativ­e Extension Office and the Southeast Arkansas Stormwater Education Program is seeking artists to paint storm drain murals in Pine Bluff and White Hall. The deadline to submit applicatio­ns is Sept. 24, according to a news release. The main idea with the storm drains murals is that observers will stop to think about where water flows after it enters the storm drain, according to spokesman Kevin Harris. All painting supplies will be provided to the artist by the stormwater education program. Beginning Friday, Sept. 24 Grand Prairie arts festival seeks entries

The Grand Prairie Festival of the Arts will accept entries in the Visual Art Competitio­n for adults and children at the Arts Center of the Grand Prairie at Stuttgart. This profession­al juried competitio­n will celebrate its 67th year this fall, according to the Grand Prairie Arts Council. The arts center will receive entries Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The artists’ reception/open house will be held Oct. 5 from 5-6:30 p.m. The exhibit will be open Oct. 1-28. Entries may be picked up Oct. 29-30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the news release. Artists may register their works online and see guidelines and other informatio­n at www.grandprair­iearts.com.
