DEBORAH LINDLEY,

-

67, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 13th, 2021, at Baptist Health Medical Center after a prolonged illness.

Deborah was born on August 17, 1954, in Tulsa, Okla., and adopted at birth by Custer and Lillie Mae (Hobbs) Hill of Little Rock, Ark. She has lived her entire life in the Little Rock area. She attended Geyer Springs Elementary School, Cloverdale Junior High, and graduated from McClellan High School in 1972. She was involved in Media Club, FBLA, FHA, Y-Teens, Lionettes, but her love was music, playing guitar, and singing. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the Highlander Choir and Lads and Lassies at McClellan under the direction of Mrs. H (Hollingsworth).

She attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for a several semesters, worked as an office administrator, and a program coordinator for the FHA. She continued to play guitar and sang at several places in Arkansas such as the Red Apple Inn and the Little Rock Club with a group.

She was a member of the Geyer Springs First Baptist Church at an early age and walked to church from her parents’ house only a few blocks away. Over her lifetime she saw a lot of growth at the church from a small white building on the corner of Geyer Springs and 57th Street to the present location on I-30 in southwest Little Rock. It was in the church’s single adult department that she met Robert S. Lindley in 1980. They were married on September 20, 1981.

Deborah and Robert were blessed with a daughter, Melissa Anne, in 1982, and son, Christopher Reid, in 1983. She loved being a stay-at-home mom and focusing on them. She was always the first to volunteer to help as a homeroom mom, in the PTA, school programs, drill team director, and by serving as the director for several state soccer tournaments.

Deborah was very active in her church. She sang in the choir, performed solos, work in children’s choir program, and led a bible study group called the Sista Girls. She also enjoyed over 40 years of working as stage manager on Easter and Christmas presentations with her husband. She was an accomplished quilter and loved to sew. Her most recent passion was making primitive dolls that documented historical women from the past. She loved to scrapbook and shared that passion with her daughter. She was a great cook, caterer, and inspired her son to become a chef.

Deborah’s spiritual gift was hospitality, and you could see that in all she did for others. Her favorite verse that she would share with Melissa and Chris every morning on the way to school was Psalms 17:8 “Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me under the shadow of your wings.”

She is proceeded in death by her son, Christoper Reid Lindley, older brother, Eugene Hill, half-sister, Marcia Ann Wieburg, and parents, Lillie Mae and Custer Hill.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Steven Lindley; daughter, Melissa Anne, and husband, Luke Alan Williams; grandsons, Kingston Edward Lindley, Jack Alan Williams, and Rhett Andrew Williams; half-brother, Rick Dewayne Burgess; and half-sister, Teresa Ann Wieburg.

Visitation will be at the Geyer Springs First Baptist Church on I-30 on Saturday, October 16th at 10 a.m., with the funeral following at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Deborah had a love for all animals and her pets were always rescues. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of Faulkner County Animal Shelter, PO Box 10380, Conway, Ark. 72034. Arrangements entrusted to Pinecrest Funeral Home, Alexander.
