PARON — Our daddy, husband, PopPop, Pee Wee and Wild Bill, WILLIAM (BILL) GENE HAAS,

-

age 71, departed this earth unexpectedly in the early morning hours on October 19, 2021. His beautiful life of serving will continue to be cherished in the lives of his broken-hearted family; his beloved wife of 43 years Nenita, daughter, Misty Dawn (Jared) Crouch of Austin, Texas; son Alvin-Bailon Haas of Paron, Arkansas, and daughter RoseHelen Giambalvo (Jason Moix) of Little Rock, Arkansas; his beloved grandchildren; Edwynn, Elina, Solomon, Kennedy, and Cash; and his brother, Richard Haas of Fair Play, Missouri. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Helen (Hendrich) Haas and his brother, John Haas. Born May 29, 1950, in Hastings, Nebraska, Bill was the third son of Alvin and Helen Haas. He graduated in 1969 from Lebanon High School in Kansas. After a stint in the Navy, Bill spent some time backpacking before moving to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he graduated as an LPN from the Baptist School of Nursing. While at Baptist, Bill met the love of his life, Nenita Zafe, and they were married on July 15, 1978. Five years later they moved to Paron, Arkansas, where they maintained a small farm at the end of Dreamy Oaks Drive and lived happily for the past 38 years.

Bill lived out his faith through acts of service. He was a jack of all trades and was well known for his kindness toward his fellow man. Never one to miss an opportunity to lend a helping hand, Bill would often be found helping a neighbor repair a leaky pipe, cooking a meal for someone in need, or doling out advice to a troubled youth. He genuinely enjoyed serving others, serving as far away as the Philippines, where he conducted several mission trips assisting medical teams distribute aid to local villagers and ensuring people obtained clean drinking water by delivering supplies and drilling wells.

An active member of New Life Baptist Church, Bill often utilized his hobby of cooking to help prepare and serve meals for the congregation and for those in need. In his younger years, Bill enjoyed hiking, camping, and backpacking. After his retirement, he took delight in his role as PopPop, passing down his unique skills and wisdom to his precious grandchildren. Bill will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on due to the countless acts of service and kindness he performed over the years for so many friends and family.
