CONWAY— The University of Central Arkansas presents its final artist-in-residence for the fall semester with Fabiola Jean-Louis, who specializes in photography, film, ceramics and paper textile design. The artist’s residency is from Monday through Thursday. Jean Louis will host a public discussion panel at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday in UCA’s McCastlain Ballroom. She will lead three handson workshops on Tuesday: At 9 a.m., a UCA Sculpture 1 class in Schichtl Arts, Room 125; and at 10:40 a.m, a Ceramics 1 class and at 2:40 p.m., Slip Casting and Glazing, both in Schichtl Arts, Room 127. Cirque Mechanics’ ‘Birdhouse Factory’
CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas Reynolds Performance Hall will welcome the Cirque Mechanics’ revival of “Birdhouse Factory” at 7:30 p.m. “Birdhouse Factory” was inspired in part by the industry murals of Mexican-born artist Diego Rivera, the illustrations of cartoonist Rube Goldberg and the slap-stick style humor of Charlie Chaplin’s film “Modern Times.” Tickets are $30 to $40 for adults and $10 for children and students, and discounts are available for seniors and the UCA community and alumni. WEDNESDAY What the Heck Is SEO, and Why Should I Care About It?
RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Tech Small Business and Technology Development Center will offer What the Heck is SEO, and Why Should I Care About It? from 10-11 a.m. at Arkansas Tech University. Participants will hear Ráhel Barr from Rock City Digital discuss the basics of search-engine optimization and the seemingly small factors that end up playing a big role in SEO success. ONGOING Season’s Greetings Exhibit
CLINTON — The North Central Arkansas Artist League offers a Season’s Greetings exhibit at Ozark Health Medical Center, 2500 U.S. 65 S., in two hallway locations: upstairs near the nursing-home entrance and downstairs in the outpatient wing. The artworks, which are for sale, are by league members Ellen Kelly, Jane Gortney, Kathleen Hadley, Charlotte Rierson and Alecs Long, all of Fairfield Bay; Donna Buercklin of Greers Ferry; and Joyce Hartmann of Choctaw. The exhibit will be open to the public during business hours until mid-January. The Hospital Auxiliary receives a portion of each sale. Arkansas Master Naturalists Applications
The Foothills chapter of the Arkansas Master Naturalists is accepting applications. FAMN is an independent, all-volunteer organization that promotes the preservation, restoration and appreciation of the natural environment. NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Veterans Villages Helping Hand Program Food Pantry, 8325 MacArthur Drive, serves all veterans, as well as activeduty, Guard and Reserve service members and their families, in Faulkner and Perry counties. The food pantry will be open from 8 a.m. to noon every other Wednesday, including Nov. 17 and Dec. 1. MORRILTON — The Conway County Care Center’s food pantry, at 108 W. Broadway, is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Residents of Conway County may visit the pantry once a month to take home free supplemental food, regardless of household income. The center also operates a thrift store, where clothes and household items are available at a low cost, or free when there is an immediate need. United Way Turkey Trot
CONWAY — The United Way of Central Arkansas will host its seventh annual Turkey Trot 5K at 8:30 a.m and the Gobble Wobble Kids’ Mile, a 1-mile race open to children ages 10 and younger, at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving, Nov. 25. The live race will take place at the Centennial Valley Country Club, 1600 Centennial Club Drive. A virtual option is also available. Early-bird registration is open online through RunSignup and can be accessed by clicking the Turkey Trot button on the United Way’s homepage at www. uwcark.org. Registration is $35 for the 5K and $25 for the Kids’ Mile, and registration is available until the morning of the race.
Dardanelle Christmas Parade
DARDANELLE — The Dardanelle Christmas Parade will take place at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3, with a Dec. 10 rainout date. The parade will begin at Merritt Park on Arkansas 22, then turn north on Union Street and right on Front Street. The grand marshals will be Mark Thone and Kent Tallent, the Dardanelle Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2020 Citizens of the Year. Trophies will be given for first, second and third places in commercial and nonprofit categories.
