ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — Frank Jarvis Coats,

64, of Englewood, Fla., formerly of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away due to natural causes on Sunday, October 31, at his home.

Born on September 18, 1957, in Goldsboro, N.C., he was the son of the late Caroline Jarvis Coats and Carl Gideon Coats. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Anne (Coats) Henderson and two brothers, John and Thomas “Tommy” Coats. Frank graduated from Northeast High School, North Little Rock, Ark., in 1976. A veteran of the U.S. Army who served in West Germany, he was also a former letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. For many years, Frank worked as a skilled carpenter, who built numerous homes in the Englewood/Venice area. An avid Green Bay Packers fan, he also loved the Arkansas Razorbacks.

He is survived by his sons, Adam Coats (April) of Barling, Ark., and Dustin Coats (Angela) of Van Buren, Ark.; four brothers, Robert “Bob” Coats (Marsha) of Venice, FL, James “Jim” Coats (Nancy) of Stafford, VA, William “Hootie” Coats (Patty) of Rotonda West, Fla., and Harry “Hank” Coats (Tina) of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.; three grandsons, Cole Coats (Adam) of Barling, Ark., and Noah and Owen Coats (Dustin) of Van Buren, Ark.; and also a host of nieces and nephews. He is deeply mourned by his many, many friends.

A private gathering of family will be held on Friday, November 12, followed by a public gathering for all of his many friends on Saturday, November 13, at Mookey’s Bar & Grill on Placida Road in Englewood, Fla.
