DENVER, Colo. — Robert Grandt Vogel, DDS, MD,

passed away October 4, 2021, in Denver, Colo., surrounded by his wife and family. Born July 2, 1942, to Hugo and Ellie (Juntenon) Vogel in Sandusky, Ohio, and raised in Fremont, Ohio, he completed a BS at Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Robert and Barbara Eleanor Meyers married on June 20, 1964. He then graduated in 1967 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery and served in the ROTC Navy Reserves for 12 years. They moved to Houston, Texas, where Robert pursued degrees in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at the University of Texas, an MD degree (with honors), followed by a degree in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, both at Baylor. There, he was selected to do cleft lip and palate surgery on children in the Philippines. He then moved his family to Little Rock, Ark., to set up practice in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Associates in 1979 after 19 years of study. In 1983, Robert became Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. Over the course of his professional career, he served ten years, during the 1980s-90s, as Chairman of the Board and Board Member of Health Advantage, an HMO subsidiary of Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. Additionally, he volunteered at the American Cancer Society for the State of Arkansas. Once retired, Robert and Barbara were constantly busy with family, especially grandchildren, and with golfing, tennis, biking, and travel. Robert rode in long-distance biking through several National Parks, covering thousands of miles. But without a doubt, he will always be remembered as a voracious reader. He also became an expert chef. Their home was a gathering place where he cooked for all their guests. He was a generous husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend, enriching the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 57 years; son, Elwood Vogel (Christiana) of Collinsville, Okla.; daughter, Carol Brizzolara (Jay) of Little Rock, Ark., daughter, Eleanor Goins (Brian) of Helena, Mont.; and six grandchildren: Aristo, Elena (Robert), Elijah, and Emory, all of Little Rock, Ark.;, and Calvin and Zoe of Collinsville, Okla.; as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. Robert Grandt Vogel will forever live on in our hearts and memories.
