T.J. Bolin

-

T.J. Bolin, 84, of Sherrill, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 8, 2021. He was born July 29, 1937, in Keo, Ark., to Willie “Bill” and Faye Bolin.

For over 50 years he was a farmer, raising cotton, soybeans, and rice, as well as the owner of Union Gin. After retiring, he continued his love of agriculture by planting a large garden every spring and fall. His garden had okra, tomatoes, purple hull peas, and watermelons, to name a few, which he shared with so many. He also planted a pumpkin patch that his great-grandchildren loved. Growing roses was another one of his passions.

He was a licensed pilot and owner of Grider Aviation, and enjoyed watching so many learn to fly. In 1978 he was named Farm Family of the Year. He served on the Jefferson County Mounted Patrol for several years and was a board member of P. C. A. As an avid sports fan, he loved watching Razorback baseball and football. He also loved driving his red 1966 Mustang.

He was a nine-year medical remission survivor from leukemia, and a graduate of Altheimer High School.

As a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill, he served many many years as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. While his achievements were great, his church and service to the Lord was most important. Family was his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Sontag Bolin; two daughters, Beverly Watkins (Mark) of Little Rock, and Debbie Overton (Steven) of Opp, Ala.; two sisters, Nina Talley of Lubbock, Texas, and Linda Lindsey of Fort Smith, Ark.; five grandchildren, Colby Dillion (Melissa) of Little Rock, Seth Dillion of Richmond, Ky., Kaycee Ledbetter (Ben) of Calera, Ala., Lauren Fulbright (Josh) of Conway, Anna Watkins of Dallas, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Parker and Hudson Fulbright, Ada Dillion, and Tucker “T.J.” Ledbetter

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willie Bolin, Jr. and Billy Bolin; and two sisters, Barbara Davis and Joyce Kalkbrenner.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors, Pine Bluff, Ark.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, November 12, 2021, at First Missionary Baptist Church Sherrill, Ark., with Dr. Randy Cloud and Bro. Carlin Gray officiating. He will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery, Alexander, Ark.
