-

SUN BELT MEN ARKANSAS STATE 66, MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY 55

A decisive 11-0 run in the early stages of the second half Sunday gave Arkansas State some much-needed cushion as they edged Missouri-Kansas City at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.

Although Norchad Omier didn’t start for ASU (4-2), he punctuated that burst with a dunk, finishing with 10 points and 8 rebounds in just 23 minutes.

Desi Sills shouldered the offensive burden with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting including a pair of three-pointers, and the Jonesboro native also contributed 5 assists and 4 steals.

Markise Davis, starting in Omier’s stead against UMKC (3-4), finished with 10 points.

SUN BELT WOMEN ABILENE CHRISTIAN 81, ARKANSAS STATE 69

Trinitee Jackson tried her best to carry Arkansas State to a win in Tulsa, but Abilene Christian rode its hot shooting, hitting 28 of its 48 attempts (58.3%) from the field Sunday.

ASU (4-4) got 16 points and 12 rebounds from Jackson and outrebounded Abilene Christian (5-1) by a 35-25 margin. The Wildcats’ Madi Miller led all players with 18 points and Kamryn Mraz scored 16 on the strength of five three-pointers.

Morgan Wallace and Keya Patton scored 11 points for the Red Wolves, while Jireh Washington added 10.

ORAL ROBERTS 74, ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK 56

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (4-3) came within a possession of Oral Roberts in the third quarter at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, but the Golden Eagles (2-4) pulled away with a 13-0 run for their second win in as many days.

UALR hit six three-pointers but shot 22 of 65 from the field, making seven field goals in the second and third quarters combined.

Krystan Vornes finished with 13 points and nine rebounds — one board shy of a third consecutive double-double — and Mayra Caicedo added 10 points.

Sali Kourouma, the No. 5 scorer in the nation at 23.4 points per game, did not play after missing Saturday’s loss to Abilene Christian.
