BENTON — David Paul Edmonson,

age 77, of Benton, was born on February 27, 1944, in Bauxite, Ark., and died on Monday, December 6, 2021, at his home. Mr. Edmonson was the third child of the late D. F. and Ora Imogene Edmonson. His life was spent living in the central Arkansas area where he graduated from Benton public schools, Class of 1962. June 1, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Dawson. They were married 56 years. While David was attending Arkansas Tech University, he was hired to work for Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad where he spent 18 years as a brakeman. He then worked the next 23 years as a brakeman/engineer with Little Rock and Western Railroad. He retired, as Sr. Trainmaste­r, from the railroad in 2004. He served in the Arkansas National Guard from 1965 to 1971. David was a born again Christian and at the time of his death he was a active member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church, working with the Tuesday morning carpenter crew and also as a greeter. He had a servant’s heart and was a friend to many.

David is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home; his sister, Anita Taylor; sister, Cherry Wolf (Larry); brother, Jim Edmonson (Judy); and other immediate family members. Also surviving are precious nieces and nephews and many extended family. Visitation will be held 10:30 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, at Ashby Funeral Home with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Bro. Nick Calaway will be officiatin­g. There will be a private family burial. The family request that you please wear a mask if you are attending the visitation and memorial service.
