EL DORADO — George Elijah Breazeal,
was born on February 27, 1930, to O.C. “Buck” and Willie Breazeal in Spearsville, La. He died on December 16, 2021, at the age of 91, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Laverne Nash Breazeal; one daughter, Angela Breazeal; and a sister, Annette Boatright. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University Summa Cum Laude with an accounting degree and maintained a close relationship with the College of Business after graduation. He served as a member of the Advisory Board of the College of Business, a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Tech University Foundation, and a member of the Advisory Council of the School of Accounting. In 1990 he received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the College of Business, and during Tech’s centennial celebration in 1994 was named one of the top 100 graduates. After graduation from Tech in 1951, he was employed by Murphy Oil Corporation as a junior accountant. His entire professional career was with Murphy Oil, including 17 years as Controller and retiring as a Vice President in 1992. He was a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPA’s. He was a member of the College Avenue Church of Christ and had served as a deacon and an elder there. In earlier years, he served on the boards of the El Dorado Council of Campfire and the United Way.
Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Breazeal Smith, of Fort Smith, Ark.; two grandchildren, Lindsey Jordan Sams (Will) of Winter Garden, Fla., and John Bradley Smith (Christi) of Texarkana, Ark.; and one brother, Leon Breazeal of Bernice, La..
Graveside services will be held at 1 on Monday, December 20, at Smyrna Cemetery with Kent Jobe officiating under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
