85, of Bryant, died Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Apple Creek Health and Rehabilita­tion in Centerton, Ark. She was born February 10, 1936, in Quitman, Ark., to the late George Winfred and Coy New. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde Jefferson Godwin, Jr.; her brother, Kenneth New; and her grandson, Marco Canulla.

Sammie was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord, her church, and her family dearly. Her ministry was her home and her family, and she built her life around them. Throughout her lifetime, she worked tirelessly to take care of and love her husband, daughters and grandchild­ren. She was always prepared to offer their favorite meals and as many hugs as she could possibly give.

Survivors include her aunt, Peggy Hoggard (Tommy) of Conway, Ark.; daughters, Karen Canulla (David) of Bentonvill­e, Ark., and Clydena Neathery of Bryant, Ark.; grandchild­ren, Kate Davidson (Aaron) of Benton, Ark., Ale Canulla of Phoenix, Ariz., and Emilie Canulla of Bentonvill­e, Ark.; and great-grandchild­ren, Owen and Emma Kate Davidson of Benton, Ark.

Funeral service is at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Park Place Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Lambright officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.

Pallbearer­s will be Aaron Davidson, Jerry Davidson, Skip Warner, and David Nelson.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Park Place Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Just the Crumbs Ministries, 10 Wagon Trail, Sumrall, Miss. 39482.
