WHITE HALL — Alfred Ferrell,

79, of White Hall, was a quiet, hard-working man who loved his wife deeply. He died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at home.

He was born March 11, 1942, in Monticello, son of Carl E. and Sarah Cloud Ferrell.

Mr. Ferrell lived many places with his family as a young boy. He graduated from Warren High School in 1959. Mr. Ferrell earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He earned his CPA license in March of 1966. He served in the Army National Guard for six years.

Alfred began his accounting career with Hollis and McClain, CPA’s, in January of 1963. He became a junior partner in the firm, then Hollis, McClain, Ferrell and Howell, and continued to work there until July of 1973. At that time, Mr. Ferrell opened his own CPA practice.

In 1984, Mr. Ferrell earned his Arkansas Real Estate License. He was a broker/salesperson with Smithwick, Inc. from May 14, 1984, until September 1, 1986.

In 1994, he began serving as the program coordinator of the RST Trust Fund with the Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology. He retired as the Program Coordinator for the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

Along with his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Binns; and nephew, Michael Binns.

Survivors include his loving wife, Patsy Ferrell, whom he married in July of 1964; and two nephews, Greg Binns of Hot Springs and Billy Don Binns, Jr. of Little Rock.

Funeral services will be 10: a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Kenneth Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello. Mr. Ferrell will be in state Tuesday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Robinson’s.
