73, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Grand Brook Memory Care in Rogers. David was born December 28, 1948, in Little Rock, Ark., to John Leonard Earney and Gloria Ann Earney. Following graduation from Dermott High School in 1966, he attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he played on the baseball team for one year before transferri­ng to the University of Central Arkansas at Conway where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business. He was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. David was preceded in death by his parents, and beloved wife, Sherry, whom he married July 31, 1970. Survivors are their son, Jason Earney (Jennifer) of Stuttgart, and daughter, Kristen Baldwin (Brent) of Springdale; four grandchild­ren, Emily Earney, Braden Earney, Jack Baldwin and Katherine Baldwin; siblings, Steve Earney (Laura), Jan Griffin (Kent), Marilyn Roth (Richard), Floyd Earney (Nancy) and Frank Earney (Kathy); many nieces and nephews and close friends; and his canine companion, Anna. David worked for AFCO Steel in Little Rock before moving to Stuttgart in 1980 to work for Lennox Industries. He was employed at Lennox for 36 years where he was in Human Resources and Production Management. David also served as Stuttgart Mayor for two years before retiring in 2020. David was a well-respected citizen of Stuttgart where he enjoyed serving his community and served on many committees and boards. He was president of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Stuttgart Country Club, and served on the Stuttgart Hospital Board where he was a two-time chairman. He was most active in the Stuttgart Rotary Club where he was a three-time president and named a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. During his time as president, he achieved the recognitio­n of Rotary President of the Year and Rotary Club of the Year in District 1650. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church where he volunteere­d his time and served on several committees. David was an avid golfer and loved attending Arkansas Razorback sporting events. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and beloved dog, Anna. To honor David, the flags were flown at half-staff in Stuttgart. Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, the family has delayed funeral services at this time.
