ASU distance records fall

Two Arkansas State indoor distance running records were broken Saturday at the Iowa Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.

Lexington Hilton smashed the men’s school record in the 3,000 meters with a meet-record time of 8 minutes, 7.24 seconds, besting the previous ASU mark of 8:15.34 set by Bob Gray in 1970. Also, freshman Cheyenne Melvin knocked down the women’s 600 record that stood since 1992, finishing in 1:33.24.
