Gene graduated from Cabot High School in 1950. He was Captain of the Cabot Football team in ‘48, ‘49 and ‘50. After high school, he served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He then attended Texas Christian University, where he would graduate with a degree in business administra­tion. Upon graduation, he went to work for his late brother, Paul Weeks, who was in the burlap business. After a few years working alongside his brother, Paul, he took a position with Retail Credit Company, known today as Equifax Services. Gene worked for Equifax for 35 years as a full time department head. He continued to perform contract work for Equifax for another 10 years after retiring.

He was devoted to his work and his family. He loved sports and most of all the UALR Trojans. He became a big supporter of UALR basketball and never missed a home game for over 20 years. He loved reminiscin­g with his two sons about his days as a football and baseball player and growing up in, what was then, the small town of Cabot.

Gene was proceeded in death by his parents, Ida and E.E. Weeks; his former wife, Mary Lee King; seven brothers, Clifford, John, Warren, Paul, Aubry, Ray, and Kenneth. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Frances Weeks of Sherwood; his sister, Marie English; two sons, Edward (Phyllis) Weeks of Cabot, Ark., and Robert Weeks of Bull Shoals, Ark.; three daughters, Paula Weaver of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Cindy (Ken) Shumate of Heber Springs, Ark., and Elizabeth Schwartz (Gary) of Flanders, N.J.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15, 10-11 a.m., at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, North Little Rock, Ark., where a graveside will follow in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
