PINE BLUFF — Vertie Mae Morgan,

88, of Pine Bluff, was a loving, giving and selfless woman who worked hard and could light up a room with her infectious laugh and sense of humor. She died Saturday, February 12, 2022, at home. Vertie Mae was born February 5, 1934, in Warren, daughter of Wylie and Beatrice Johnson Kelley. Mrs. Morgan was reared and received her early education in Warren, graduating from Warren High School. She was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church and a secretary with the Pine Bluff Arsenal for 30 years. Along with her parents, Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Morgan; son, Steve Phillips; step-daughter, Cathy Morgan; two brothers, Roy Lee Kelley and Charles Kelley; an infant sister, Annette Kelley; and granddaugh­ter, Shawnee Canada.

Survivors include two sons, Kelley Morgan (Kaye Scallion) and Stanley Morgan (Vickie), both of Pine Bluff; daughter, Michelle Martin (Don) of St. Augustine, Florida; step-son, Benny Morgan (Mary) of Camden; two step-daughters, Karen and Martha Canada, both of Camden; 18 grandchild­ren, Chad Canada, Brett Canada, Angel Boney, Carrie Canada, Nicholas Canada, Dana Keithley, Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Morgan, Drew Morgan, Richie Scallion, Alexis Leyva, Blake Martin, Matthew Martin, Lauren Broach, Courtney Stout, Brandon Launius, Michelle McAteer, and Somer Hankins; and numerous great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2022, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Brother Michael Powell and Brother Benny Morgan officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery in Glendale. Visitation will be Thursday evening, from 5-7 p.m., at Robinson’s.
