104, went home to be with the Lord. She was born January 24, 1918, in Arkansas City, Ark., to George Wesley and Pearlie Elizabeth Young. At an early age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savor and continued to walk with her Master until he called her home. She attended public school in Arkansas City, and Dermott, Arkansas. Continuing Her education Hazel received a B.S.E Degree from AM&N College in Pine Bluff. She did graduate work in Guidance and Counseling at the University of Colorado. Hazel began her teaching career in Lake Village, Arkansas. In 1976 Hazel retired after 31 years of teaching. Hazel met and married Tollie Lawrence of Woodson. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Johnnie and Hazel Louise.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant granddaugh­ter, Catherine Elizabeth May; three brothers, Will Young, George Young ,Jr., and Caesar Young; eight sisters, Inez Smith, Vivian Duff, Pearline Greene, Celestine Young, Arbestine Young, Geneva Davis, Marie Davis and Elizabeth Pitts; and two sisters-in-law, Viola Young-Beasley and Margie Elizabeth Young. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Hazel (Walter) May; one grandson, Walter Lawrence May; one granddaugh­ter, Olivia (Ricky) Jacobs; and one great-granddaugh­ter, Lori Jacobs, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A walk-through viewing will be held from 4-6 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2022, at Roller Chenal Funeral Home with a Celebratio­n of Life on Saturday, March 26, 11 a.m., at Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. Burial will be at Rest In Peace Memorial Gardens in Hensley, Ark. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Hazel Young Lawrence Endowed Scholarshi­p at the University Of Arkansas Pine Bluff.
