SEARCY — Rinda Sue Witt Miller,
88, formerly of Searcy, Ark., passed away in Little Rock, Ark., on March 20, 2022. She was born on August 8, 1933, to the late James Frank Witt and Maude (Durham) Witt in Bradford, Ark.
Rinda Sue was a classy and wise lady who loved people, dancing, and champagne. She was dedicated to the children and families she helped through her years at the Department of Human Services, while at the same time being an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. To know her was to love her and she was an inspiration to all who met her. Her accomplishments include graduating from ASU Beebe and Arkansas Teachers College in Conway, Ark. After graduation she taught school at Timbo, Ark., for several years, then went on to become a social worker. She had a distinguished and rewarding career at DHS for 35 years, having served as County Administrator of Cleburne and White Counties for over 25 years. She was a member of the Cloverdale Garden Club, Business and Professional Women and received the B&PW Woman of the year award; Koffee Klatch Women’s Group; Arkansas State Employees Association; Chair and Vice-Chair of White County Democratic Central Committee; Member of the State Democratic Committee and Democratic Convention Delegate multiple times; Arkansas White County Single Parents Scholarship Program; Court Appointed Special Advocate efforts for White County; and did countless hours of other volunteer work.
She is survived by her two daughters, Laura Baldwin (husband Rick) of Little Rock, Ark., and Amanda McDaniel of Jonesboro, Ark.; three grandchildren, Alec Baldwin (wife Kristin), Grant Baldwin both of Little Rock, Ark., and Emma Grace McDaniel of Jonesboro, Ark,; brother, Charles Witt (wife Jacqueline) of Missouri. She married James C. Miller on April 2, 1955, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1998. They had a son, Gregory, who died a few days after birth. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Witt (wife Bernice) and Jack Witt (wife Dell). Her longtime companion, travel, and dancing partner, Guy H. (Buddy) Lackey, Jr., also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home. A graveside service will begin at 2:30 p.m., at the Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia with interment to follow.
