ASUN CENTRAL ARKANSAS 6, LIPSCOMB 0

Sophomore Jesse Barker tossed the second two-hit shutout in as many days for the University of Arkansas on Saturday afternoon in Conway.

First baseman Hunter Hicks put UCA (9-12, 4-1 ASUN Conference) up 3-0 with a three-run homer in the first and the Bears needed no more offense to secure the series win against Lipscomb (11-12, 0-5).

Barker struck out seven and walked only one in a career-best nine innings en route to his second win of the season. Right fielder Kolby Johnson went 2 for 3 with a walk and three runs.

SUN BELT GEORGIA SOUTHERN 12, ARKANSAS STATE 2

Arkansas State University was unable to get its first conference win of the season, giving up the first eight runs of the game to the Eagles.

Will Nash took the loss for ASU (4-16, 0-5 Sun Belt Conference), surrenderi­ng 5 runs on 6 hits over 4 innings of work. Triston Jamison made his second start of the season, playing right field and going 2 for 4.

Georgia Southern (16-7, 4-1) was led by starter Ty Fisher, who threw 6 2/3 shutout innings and surrendere­d three hits while earning the win.

UALR 7, APPALACHIA­N ST. 4

A four-run sixth inning gave the University of Arkansas-Little Rock a much-needed cushion as the Trojans held off Appalachia­n State at Gary Hogan Field on Saturday night to snap a five-game losing skid.

UALR (11-9, 1-4 Sun Belt Conference) pushed its lead to 5-2 on a two-run double by Noah Dickerson with two outs in the sixth and the next batter, Canyon McWilliams, followed with a two-run single to make it 7-2.

Joey Martin closed out Appalachia­n State (8-13, 2-3) with three shutout innings, striking out five and surrenderi­ng two hits to pick up the save and give the Trojans their first conference victory.

SWAC UAPB 15, TEXAS SOUTHERN 5

Junior Timothy Martin hit a three-run home run, and senior Kacy Higgins and sophomore Conner James each collected four hits to help power the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (6-12-1, 3-2 Southweste­rn Athletic Conference) in Houston.

Sophomore right-hander Damon Elarton (2-2) earned the win, going 6 innings, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits, allowing 2 walks and striking out 4.

Conner James tripled, hit two home runs and drove in three runs for the Golden Lions. Lawrence Noble and Dante Leach also homered for UAPB, while Higgins doubled and drove in a run.
