COLT — Joyce Lindsey Clark,
age 84, of Colt, formerly of Caldwell, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 18, 2022.
Mrs. Clark was born on October 27, 1937, to Elmer E. and Ida Busby Lindsey. She was the third of six children. She loved to tell stories of her childhood of cutting out paper dolls from magazines, laying sticks on the ground to design their playhouse, and playing ball with her siblings. She graduated from Forrest City High School in 1955. Later that year, two days after she turned 18, she married the love of her life, John P. Clark, on October 29, 1955. Mrs. Clark went to work at Planters Bank and Trust, where she worked as a secretary to the president right out of high school. She enjoyed a long banking career where she eventually was the President of the bank after achieving many successes including graduating from the LSU School of Banking. After her retirement from the bank, she went to work for the Lindsey family farm and gin operation as a key employee in daily operations. She loved her job which included anything from financial management to cooking a daily meal for anyone who might stop by. Her hobbies include painting, ceramics, playing mahjong, but her passion was cooking and preparing food for those she loved. She expressed her love to her family by making sure everyone had their favorite dish at family gatherings. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. Her love for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was tremendous. She shared a strong bond with her siblings and cherished time spent with them. Mrs. Clark loved the Lord and her faith was strong. She always strived to point her children to Jesus through serving in different ministries at Bethel Baptist Church. Later in life, she attended First Baptist Church of Caldwell.
She is survived by her three daughters, Gina Clegg, and husband, Tony of Colt, Kim Dillard of Wynne, Jan Perkins, and husband, Michael of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Preston Clegg (Rebecca), Dustin Clegg (Beth), Clark Dillard (Carly), Kathryn Pruiett (Trey), Ryan Perkins (Callie), and Riley Perkins (Annie); ten great-grandchildren, Laynie Clegg, Paxton Clegg, Truett Clegg, Selah Clegg, Jud Clegg, Knox Pruiett, Barrett Dillard, Grant Dillard, Lucy Pruiett, and Poppy Pruiett; one brother, Jim Lindsey (Nita) of Fayetteville; one sister, Claudette Ferguson of Harrison, one sister-in-law, Jenny Lindsey of Caldwell; many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly; devoted and faithful caregivers, Earline Hawkins and Rachel Harris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John P. Clark, her sisters, Tommye Satterfield and Betty Holman, her brother, B Lindsey, her son-inlaw, Steve Dillard, and her great granddaughter, Stevie Jane Pruiett.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Carroll Bishop, Tony Clegg, Clark Dillard, Bubba Lindsey, Jay Lindsey, John David Lindsey, Lyndy Lindsey, Riley Perkins, and Greg Satterfield.
Services for Mrs. Clark will be held at First Baptist Church of Caldwell, Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 11 a.m. with burial in Lindsey Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
