SEVIERVILL­E, Tenn. — Harold Eugene Rowland “Gene”,

77, of Seviervill­e, went to Heaven Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022. Gene lived in Seviervill­e, Tenn., at the base of the Great Smoky Mountains. Gene was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark. He grew up there and his life career was with Safeway Stores. He was district produce manager over the floral department­s. When he retired, he moved to his sister and brother-in-law’s farm in South Phillips County. He was a Christian and member of Lambrook Baptist Church. He loved to fish in the many lakes there. After a few years Gene moved on to his next adventure in East Tennessee at a log cabin by the Great Smoky Mountains. He hiked and explored the mountains. He was an avid photograph­er of the beautiful scenes and wild animals in the mountains. His absolute favorite were the black bears. Gene had many friends and enjoyed life. He will be terribly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Muriel Rowland; paternal grandparen­ts, Thad and Bernie Rowland; maternal grandparen­ts, John and Katie Smith; and brother-in-law, Sonny Hall. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Rowland Hall of Seviervill­e, Tenn.; nephews, Ed Daniel (Richelle) of Little Rock, Ark., and Marc Smith of Seviervill­e, Tenn.; niece, Dian Mustacci of Bentonvill­e, Ark.; special great-nieces, Kayla Whitehead (Zach); great-great niece, Navy Le Whitehead of Springboro, Ohio; great-niece, Christi Jenkins (Mitchell); great-great nephew, Miles Jenkins of Rogers, Ark.; and many other cousins and friends.
