SUN BELT UC DAVIS 75, ARKANSAS STATE 60

The University of California-Davis hit 12 three-pointers Friday on its way to a victory over Arkansas State University at University Credit Union Center in Davis, Calif.

UC Davis (3-1) led the entire game and shot 49.1% from the floor, including 50% (12 of 24) from the three-point line. Arkansas State (2-2) was held to 35% shooting from the floor and hit 5 of 18 (27.8%) three-pointers.

The Red Wolves trailed 31-25 at halftime, but the cut the lead to 37-35 with 15:44 to play. The Aggies then used a 9-0 run to regain control, using consecutiv­e three-pointers and a three-point play to take a 46-35 advantage with 14:19 remaining.

Arkansas State closed to within 52-49 with 8:42 left, but UC Davis scored 15 of the next 19 points to build a 67-53 lead with 4:56 remaining.

ASU’s Caleb Fields posted a career-high 25 points to lead all scorers. Malcolm Farrington added 13 points and Terrance Ford Jr. had 10, both off the bench. Bobby Beasley led UC Davis with 15 points, while Elijah Pepper had 12, Ty Johnson added 11 and Christian Anigwe chipped in with 10.

ASUN NIAGARA 73, CENTRAL ARKANSAS 64

A slow first half cost Central Arkansas Friday morning as the Bears were unable to come from behind against Niagara in their first of two games in the ASUN/MAAC Dublin Challenge. Camren Hunter led UCA with 23 points and Eddy Kayouloud and Collin Cooper each added 14 at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

The Bears trailed by as many as nine in the opening 20 minutes and the Purple Eagles pushed their advantage to 11 midway through the second half. UCA (2-2) used an extended 23-17 run to pull as close as four with 2:10 remaining, but the Bears could never get the lead at any point in the second half.

Niagara (1-2) dominated the paint, outscoring UCA 50-28 in the lane, and 6-3 guard Noah Thomasson led all scorers with 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting. The Bears play again at 5 a.m. Central today vs. Rider.

SWAC CLEVELAND STATE 67, UAPB 58

Five players scored eight points or more for Cleveland State (2-3), which trailed early before rallying in the first half at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland.

Jayson Woodrich came off the bench to score 12 points to lead the Vikings, who were down 10-2 in the first half but sprinted ahead on the strength of a 16-3 run. Cleveland State went on to hold a 35-24 lead at halftime and would push its advantage to 20 after scoring the first nine points of the second half.

UAPB (1-5) did get within 56-45 on a lay-up from Brahm Harris with 5:18 left in the game but wouldn’t get any closer until the final score.

Tristan Enaruna and Deante Johnson each scored nine points, while Tae Williams and Deshon Parker added eight apiece for the Vikings, who shot 21 of 53 (39.6%) from the floor to help offset 17 turnovers.

Shaun Doss had 16 points, and Chris Greene followed with 14 for UAPB, which was 18-of-55 (32.1%) shooting. Ismael Plet added 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Kylen Milton chipped in with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
