SEARCY — Regina Fern Tarkington,

of Searcy, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2022. She was born Dec. 21, 1938 in Center Hill, Ark., to the late Hardy Benton and Esther Clay Lawson. Fern spent 50 years as an accountant for General Motor Co., and once she retired, had a great many hobbies. She enjoyed traveling with her sister Kay, reading, and spending time with her dogs. Fern loved music, she was an excellent piano player, and enjoyed singing gospel music. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Searcy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Tarkington, and her beloved dogs, Toby, Gracie, Hannah and Pepper.

She is survived by her loving sister, Kay Brinkley of Searcy, two step-sons, Jim Tarkington of Searcy, and Jeff Tarkington of Little Rock; goddaughte­r, Katrina Farris (Jacob) of Sidney; godsons, Landon, Micah, and Noah Farris, of Sidney; several cousins in Arkansas and Texas and many friends.

A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 21, 2022 at Temple Baptist Church in Searcy, with a memorial service starting at 11 a.m. Officiatin­g will be Fern’s cousin Chad Brandon, former Pastor, Reggie Walling, and Associate Pastor, Randy Strayhorn, and special music by Marty Phillips of Crossett.
