HOUSTON, Texas — Charleston Handley, Sr.,

78, of Houston, Texas, went home to Glory land. He was a faithful member of the Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church in Dermott, Ark., under the leadership of Pastor, Rev. S.M. Taylor.

He was very independen­t even when health began to fail. Later in 2022, he moved to Houston, Texas to reside with his son Charleston Jr., until he transition­ed into eternity on November the 8th. He joined the US Army, where he served his country for many years. He was employed with the Arkansas COOP. He loved God, his family and the Arkansas Razorbacks basketball. Daddy was a true disciplina­rian, he was a true teacher of God’s word. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, because to know him, you would love him. Left to cherish his memories, Children; Artie (Joseph) Harris, Jacksonvil­le, Ark., Keith (Daphne) West, Benton, Ark., Jeanette (Darnzill) Miller, Pine Bluff, Ark., Charleston (Rachelle) Handley, Jr., Omar Handley, Africa (George) Crittenden. All three of Houston, Texas., siblings; Mary Helen (Macio) Ross, Little Rock, Ark., Jean Foster-Phyall, Milwaukee, Wis., and a host of other relatives and friends. He will forever be in our hearts! Funeral 11 a.m., Friday November 18, 2022, at Lee Chapel AME Church 421 W. 22nd Street North Little Rock. Masks are REQUIRED!
