MONROE, La. — Central Arkansas won its first road game of the season Saturday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
It was the second consecutive win for the Sugar Bears (2-2).
UCA’s three leading scorers, Parris Atkins (15), Kierra Prim (14) and Kayla Mitchell (12), combined for 41 points to edge past Louisiana-Monroe (2-2).
The Sugar Bears shot 31.1% from the field. That number dipped to 28.6% in the second quarter as UCA was outscored 19-9.
UCA made up for its struggles from the field with a strong showing from the free-throw line, where it made 18 of 22 (81.8%).
UCA jumped out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter, but Louisiana-Monroe scored the inverse in the second quarter to send the game to halftime tied 28-28.
Louisiana-Monroe was held to 6-for21 shooting in the second half as UCA outscored it 32-25.
