The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, closed Monday at 836.74, up 3.84.

“U.S. stocks ended slightly lower on Tuesday as investors chew on comments from Federal Reserve officials who broadly remained steadfast in their fight against inflation along with mounting concerns that China may tighten covid curbs after a string of reported deaths,” said Chris Harkins, managing director at Raymond James & Associates.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
