VILONIA — Thomas “Jim” Shuemake

of Vilonia, went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2023, at the age of 88.

He was born on January 28, 1935, in Conway, Ark., to Thomas Samuel and Alma Jewell Shuemake. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon. He was a veteran in the United States Army serving in Germany. He worked until his retirement at Arkansas Democrat Gazette. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid supporter of the Razorbacks and Vilonia Eagles.

Jim is survived by one brother, Louis Shuemake and wife, Linda of Clovis, Calif.; two sisters, Kathryn Sheragy and husband, Michael of Fowler, Calif.; Carol Hocking and husband, Bruce of Green Valley, Ariz.; son-in-law, Tom Wells of Vilonia; two grandchild­ren, Whitney Carden and husband, Gary of Vilonia; Addie Gilmore and husband, David of Wooster; four great-grandchild­ren, Drake, Garrett and Kynslee Carden all of Vilonia, and Wyatt Gilmore of Wooster, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Reba Faye Shuemake (Sisson); daughter, Storme Wells; and his parents, Thomas and Alma Jewell Shuemake.

A memorial service with military honors will be held 6 p.m., Monday, February 20th, 2023, at Friendship Baptist Church with Brother Chris Franco and Brother Ken Jordan officiatin­g. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
