JONESBORO — June LaNelle Hunt Beck, 87,

of Jonesboro, formerly of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born June 22, 1935, in Pine Bluff to Leo and Evelyn Case Hunt.

LaNelle graduated from Pine Bluff High School and attended Ouachita Baptist University and State Teachers (which is now UCA) with a teaching degree. She was in the band at Pine Bluff High School and played the clarinet.

In college she was an officer in the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority at State Teachers. She married Marvin Beck December 31, 1960. LaNelle was a lifelong member of Olive Street Missionary Baptist Church (Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church and was involved all of her life with her church! She taught Children’s Chapel for many years and was a secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary for several years.

LaNelle taught high school for 39 years, with most of those being taught at Watson Chapel High School. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideons International for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Marvin Taylor Beck, whom she married in December of 1960.

Survivors include her two children, Clarice Beck of Jonesboro and Lowery (Teresa) Beck of Jonesboro; three grandsons that she loved dearly, Stephen, David, and Chris Beck. She is survived also by her sister, Barbara Fels.

LaNelle moved to Jonesboro in December of 2019, and lived in St. Bernard’s Village with her sister, Barbara. She made lots of new friends at St. Bernard’s Village. The family would like to thank everyone that works at St. Bernard’s Village and everyone that works at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for taking such wonderful care of their mom.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Ralph Robinson and Son with Bro. John Mooney officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. Saturday until funeral time.
