CABOT — Willie Otto Barfield,

89, of Cabot, passed from this life Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was born October 20, 1933, in Lane, S.C., to the late Joe and Travis Barfield. Willie served his country in the United States Army for eleven years before being medically discharged as a sergeant. He later went to work for NASA in the space program and spent twenty-four years with them. Willie was married to the love of his life, Lonia, for forty-one years and between them they had six children. They loved to travel and visit friends and family all over the states. In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Lonia Barfield; two sons, William “Curtis” and Michael Barfield; grandson, Mark Oates; great-granddaugh­ter, Everly Rae Bakalis; sister, Mildred Bates; and brothers, J.P., Benny and Bobby Barfield.

Those left to love and miss him are his daughters, Randee Beal of Goldonna, La., and Toni Stroud (Donny) of Montgomery, La.; daughter-in-law, Monica Barfield of Cabot, Ark.; grandchild­ren, Tiffany Carpenter (Pierce), Stephanie Smith (Kevin), Jared Beal, Melissa Brothers, Curtis Barfield, Jr. (Elizabeth), John Barfield (Michelle), Amanda Fowler, Cherie Holland (Allen), Chasity Adcock (Jason), Cory Stroud and Nicole Bakalis (Philip); twenty-one great-grandchild­ren; brother, Edward Barfield (Leslie) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and his faithful companion, Tinkerbell; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
