SMACKOVER — Robert Charles McMenis

passed from this life into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Robert was born on April 19, 1951, in Little Rock, Ark., to James Freeman McMenis and Eleanor Blair Jones McMenis.

Robert graduated from DeValls Bluff High School in 1969. He pursued a college career at Ouachita Baptist University, where he graduated with a degree in Music Education in 1973. Robert was a master organist and pianist.

In 1973, Robert was employed by Smackover Public Schools, where he was an elementary teacher for 28 years. Robert loved teaching and loved to be known as Mr. Mc.

In July 1978. Robert married Kathy Smith. They started a journey of music, laughter, and love. They had three sons and loved and nourished many other children in the neighborho­od, school, and church.

Robert was a believer of Jesus Christ and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Smackover where he served as Minister of Music.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparen­ts, James Ezra McMenis, Gertrude Elizabeth Dunlap McMenis, Stacey Homer Jones, and Nellie Redditt White Jones; and a sister, Barbara Ann McMenis Teaster.

Robert is survived by his wife, Kathy Smith McMenis; three sons, Chad, Todd, and Blake, all of Smackover; five grandchild­ren, Sara, Adriel, Zaden, Maiya, and Silas. Robert is also survived by a brother, James McMenis of Smackover; and a sister, Debbie Jefcoate of New Zealand; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, at the First United Methodist Church, Smackover at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. Memorials may be made to Smackover First United Methodist Church, Liberty Methodist Church, Louann, Ark., Liberty Cemetery Associatio­n, or Life Touch Hospice.
