HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Robert Brandt,

age 95, of Hot Springs Village passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023. He was born July 29, 1927, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Diedrich and Grace Brandt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and an infant son.

He was a graduate of Southside High School in Fort Wayne and then enlisted in the Army, where he served in the Military Police in the Panama Canal Zone. He then earned a BS degree in Chemical Engineerin­g at Purdue University. He had a 40year career with Atlas Powder Company, retiring as national accounts manager.

Bob was a devout Catholic member of Sacred Heart of Jesus as well as a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed a rousing game of gin rummy. One saying that he was known for is “Have a reason for everything you do, and do everything right with love”. He also collected inspiratio­nal sayings and sent what he called “yeps” each morning to a large email group.

Bob was on the Board of Directors, president of the Community Concert Associatio­n, member of the POA architectu­ral committee, on the board of Good Samaritan Society, and the Equalizati­on Board of Saline County.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Patte. Bob and Patte created a family with a strong bond who appreciate­d his sense of humor (sometimes) and his rare ability to listen intently (always).

Survivors also include four children, Nancy (Kim) Smith of Springdale, Ark., Barb (Tom) Kochtanek of Columbia, Mo., Bob Brandt Jr. (Patsy) of Lake Winnebago, Mo., and Julia (Jim) Reese of Austin, Texas; seven grandchild­ren; and 21 great-grandchild­ren.

The family is grateful for the loving care provided by Deanna Anderson.

Memorials may be made to Hot Springs Village Community Foundation Sacred Heart Endowment for the poor, or a charity of your choice.

Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Saturday, April 22, at 11:00, preceded by a rosary at 10:30. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the funeral Mass.
