CABOT — Micheal Elvis “Mike” Booker,

65, of Cabot, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023. He was born September 18, 1957, in Holly Grove to the late Milton and Erlene Booker. He grew up in Holly Grove as part of a wonderful family in a great small town setting. Mike was raised in the Holly Grove Presbyteri­an Church and attended Marvell Academy. He loved everything about the outdoors, hunting turkey and deer, fishing, camping and exploring the vast outdoor opportunit­ies. He had many close friends and was loyal to all, sharing many great memories.

He excelled in football at Marvell Academy in both the junior high and senior high levels earning All-Conference as an interior lineman. He was known as the team’s toughest player and earned the respect of his teammates and fear from his opponents.

Mike continued his outdoor hobbies his entire life, sharing experience­s with friends and family. He loved family gatherings and was always the first one there and the last one to leave. He was a whiz at repairing things and was always willing to help friends and family with vehicles, appliances and home repairs. In 1986, he went to work for Grady W. Jones Company in North Little Rock as a forklift mechanic, eventually earning the position of service manager. After moving to Cabot, Mike married the love of his life, Margaret Simmons, on December 30, 1988. He was baptized in 2018. Mike was a member of Westside Church of Christ. Mike was considered a “great guy” by everyone and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Richard “Bubba” Smith (Amanda) of Clarendon, and Micheal Booker (Tori Varady) of Jonesboro; daughter, Dawn Cantrell (Heath) of Calico Rock; grandchild­ren, Kaitlyn and Jodie Smith, Adam Wilson, Remington, Drake, Caliber and Daisy Cantrell, Dixie Mae and Maci Lou Booker; sister, Janet Calloway (Doug) of Hot Springs; brothers, Doug Booker (Jan) of Hot Springs, and Jimmy Booker of Clarendon; as well as many extended family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciati­on to Mike’s caregivers, Zack Gordon, Cathy Waller, Sheila Volz and Tori Varady, as well as a special thanks to the hospice team nurses, Kaci Jones and Jade Peebles and CNA, Latoya Williams.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2023, at the funeral home with Brother Jason Lankford officiatin­g. Interment will be 4 p.m. following the service at Augusta Memorial Park in Augusta, Ark.
