age 84, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023, in Little Rock, Ark. Sara was born on January 5, 1939, in El Dorado, Ark. to Julius Conley and Nedra Estelle Andress Miller, now deceased. In addition to her parents, Sara was predecease­d by her sister Evangeline (Vange) Miller Rogers.

Sara is survived by her husband of 54 years, Samuel Merriweath­er Richardson III, four sons, Samuel Merriweath­er Richardson IV (wife Lana) of Brownwood, Texas; William Glynn Campbell, Jr. of Little Rock, Ark.; Richard Miller Campbell (wife Sarah) of Memphis, Tenn.; and John Andrew Richardson of Little Rock, Ark.; ten grandchild­ren, Amanda Ely (husband Dave) of Haslet, Texas; Samuel Merriweath­er Richardson V of Euless, Texas; Trey Lynn Bearden of Lakeway, Texas; Charles Branden Bearden of Pflugervil­le, Texas; William Burroughs Campbell of Little Rock, Ark.; Elizabeth Sager Miller Campbell of Austin, Texas; David Andrew (Drew) Templeton (wife Amanda) of St. Charles, Illinois; Thomas Edward Campbell of St. Louis, Mo.; Andrew Samuel Richardson of Little Rock, Ark.; and Sara Marie Richardson of Hickory, N.C.; and four great-grandchild­ren, Emerson Marie Templeton of St. Charles, Illinois; Aiden, Allison, and Olivia Ely of Haslet, Texas.

Sara, a long-time resident of El Dorado and Little Rock, graduated from El Dorado High School as Valedictor­ian and obtained her college degree from the University of Arkansas where she was a Chi Omega. She started her working career as a teacher at Barton Junior High in El Dorado. Later she was instrument­al in growing Viking Industries as Executive Vice-President and served on the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce Board. Beyond her contributi­ons to the business community, Sara was passionate about giving back to the community, serving on the Union County Community Foundation and Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation Boards.

Sara’s greatest joy was her family. Whether it was traveling the world, cooking holiday meals, riding horses or simply babysittin­g, she prioritize­d her life to maximize the time she spent with family.

A funeral service will be held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. A graveside interment will be held at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in El Dorado, Ark. on June 24, 2023 at2:30 p.m. with a reception immediatel­y following at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributi­ons to the Sara M. and Sam M. Richardson Fund at the Union County Community Foundation, which supports Arkansas Children’s Hospital, St Mary’s Episcopal Church in El Dorado, Ark. and St Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock, Ark.
