passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023. Born November 27, 1940 in Little Rock Ark., to DL Rhoads and Madie Tolliver Rhoads, he was the oldest of Sandra Kay Rhoads and Rodger Rhoads.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sandra Kay Rhoads, and a son, Thomas Lee Rhoads.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, George Ann Davenport Rhoads, their daughter Cookie Rhoads Brown her husband Bruce (his favorite son-in-law) of Searcy. He is also survived by his brother Rodger Rhoads his wife Jan of Conway. Four grandchild­ren Chris and Christine Rhoads of Rogers, Matthew Brown of Rogers, Michael and Kinsey Brown of Olive Branch, Miss., Megan Brown of Searcy. Great grandchild­ren; Shaylin, Parker, Sophee, Charlie, and many friends and extended family.

Bill “Pappy” grew up in North Little Rock, Ark. Graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1958. He joined the National Guard out of high school and served for eight years. Owned his own heating and air business for 40 years. Served in the North Little Rock Fire Department for 40 years ending his career in 2006 as Battalion Chief Fire Marshal.

He was a believer in Jesus Christ and joined Levy Baptist Church when he was six years old. He served as a deacon in both Levy and Zion Hill Baptist Church where he taught junior high boys and children. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

He enjoyed duck hunting with his friends and family, working around his shop and spending time with his men’s group that met in his shop. If you had a project or something that was broken Pappy could fix it or make it better.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Hospital, Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home, or Gideons Internatio­nal.

Visitation will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, with service to begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Online guestbook www.SmithFamil­yCares.com.
