GORDON “DUANE” CHAPMAN,

age 75, of Roland, Ark., passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Hewas born on August 29, 1947 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; the son of Gordon and Mona (Nicholson) Chapman. Duane served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police Sergeant during the Vietnam War, and then continued to serve and protect as a member of the Little Rock Police Department for 31 years. He served in many roles as a Sergeant including homicide detective and a formative member of the LR SWAT team.

Duane had a strong Christian faith and loved to study his Bible. He was baptized at Nalls Baptist Church in Little Rock. He was passionate about American History and loved our country. Duane was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, marksman and was a Federally Certified Firearms Instructor.

He is survived by his two sons Jarrett Chapman (Angie) of Roland, Tanner Chapman of W. Little Rock, and their mother Marcia Cohen Chapman, three grandchildren, Dylan, Caroline, and Catherine Chapman, his sister Diane Tripp (Billy Ray) of Griffithville, his uncle Keith Chapman of Searcy, as well asmany nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters Gail Compton, Saundra Jean “Jeannie” Strohl, Joyce Ann Hall and Glenda Guffy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, AR. 72204 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023beginning at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 62 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72212. Burial with honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave, North Little Rock, Ark. 72120. Flowers will be received at the funeral home, and those who wish to make donations can do so to the First Baptist Church of Little Rock.
