NASHVILLE — William “Bill” Clark Spigner,
age 93, of Nashville, went to his Eternal Home on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at his home in Nashville. He was born April 12, 1930, in Mineral Springs to the late Wiley Clark Spigner and Mary Etta Hosey Spigner.
Bill, as everyone knew him was a retired cattle rancher, raising registered Herefords. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War having received several medals, they include the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, KSM with two Bronze Service Stars and a UN Service Medal.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon for numerous years. He also owned and operated Spigner’s Barber Shop, having cut generations of men’s and boy’s hair.
One of his most proud moments was when he and his family received the Howard County Farm Family of the Year in 1988 going on to also win the Regional Farm Family of the Year. He had served on many different Boards and as president of many clubs in the area. Some he was most proud of were the Howard County Fair Board, the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association for over a decade, the Farm Bureau Board, and the Lions Club. He had also served on the Hempstead County Farmer’s Coop board, and other clubs and boards in the area. He loved his community and loved being a part of it.
He and his wife had owned Montgomery Ward in Nashville at one time. Later in life he worked for Jebco Ford in Nashville selling John Deer tractors and Ford vehicles, and even received top salesman awards. This led him later to open his own car dealership known as Easy Ride Autos on Main Street with his partner, Mike Ponder. Bill always had the best deals in the area.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Harold Spigner; sister, Faye Dunson; brother, Raymond Spigner; sister, Richie Dean Deloney; and the love of his life, his wife, Mary Emma Spigner.
The sunshine in his life included his three daughters, Rosemary and husband Randy Cloud of Nashville, Reba and husband Jimmy Jennings of Magnolia, and Rhonda and husband Greg Williams of Cabot; his grandchildren, Ryan Cloud (Britney), Robyn Cloud Lindsey (Kelly), Ledly Jennings (Bethany), Ashton Williams Zuber (Tyler); great-grandchildren, Brilynne, Eden and Maddox Cloud, Remy, Rory, and Reese Lindsey, and Walker Jennings; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church with Bro. Glen Green, Bro. Billy Dawson, officiating. Visitation will also be on Sunday at the church from 2 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park with military honors. After the services everyone is welcome to attend a celebration reception at PATAcakes on Main Street in Nashville.
