GEORGEANN (JAN) SMITH GRESHAM,

65, died Monday, July 17, 2023, at Baptist Hospital. Born in Little Rock, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Ann Porbeck Smith and Clifton Maddux Smith Jr. Jan was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary in Little Rock and University of Arkansas where she received a degree in Nursing.

Jan spent the large part of her life in various nursing roles. She earned her RNFA and CNOR designatio­ns and was able to broaden her scope of practice. Jan was a Staff RN in Surgical Services at UAMS Hospital, where she worked for 25 years. Jan was a valued member of the Heart Team that pioneered the Saphenous Vein Harvesting Program at UAMS. She travelled doing Pediatric nursing and assisted at the Little Rock Zoo when the chimpanzee­s needed Gynecologi­c care. Jan rounded out her career at the Ft. Roots V.A. Clinic, and loved working with Veterans. Jan retired from the VA Clinic in 2020. Jan was loved and admired by all her doctors and fellow employees.

Jan was an inextingui­shable light in an ever darkening world. Her love of life brought joy to every person she encountere­d. Jan was a very loving and caring person, mother, wife and nurse. She and her husband were soulmates and shared all aspects of their life together. They loved each other deeply.

Jan is survived by her husband of 371/2 years, Pat Gresham, two sons, Andrew Gresham and his wife Daina, and Matthew Gresham, all of Little Rock, a sister, Mary Pat Smith Tate and her husband Byron Tate, and one nephew, Ethan Tate. She is pre-deceased by her sister Ginger Smith and brother Mike Smith.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Holy Soul Catholic Church on July 28, 2023 at 3 p.m. Internment will immediatel­y follow at the Columbariu­m at Holy Souls.

Arrangemen­ts are by Griffin Leggett Healy and Roth. The family wishes to thank the SICU staff at Baptist Hospital for their valiant and unending attempts to save Jan’s life.
