Gloria Hunter Connell

Gloria Hunter Connell, age 75, of White Hall, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023.

Born at Pine Bluff on August 9, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John Lorenzo Hunter and Ewilda Chambers Hunter, she was a 1967 graduate of Monticello High School. In 1970, Gloria graduated from Arkansas A&M College (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. She continued her education at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and received her Master of Science degree in Education in 1974.

A resident of White Hall since 1977, Gloria was an elementary school teacher at Moody Elementary School from 1977 until her retirement in 2007. She was an active and faithful member of White Hall United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, served on the Board of Stewards, worship committee chairman, children’s ministry, the United Methodist Women, along with many other roles in the life of the church. Gloria was also listed in Who’s Who Among America Teachers.

She married George Henry Connell, III on August 3, 1969 at Monticello. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2020.

Survivors include her children, Christie Connell Park (Steve Barrett) and Blake Connell (Kelly); six grandchildren, Kendal Park (Richie Rankin), Karsyn Park, Cole Connell, Carter Connell, and Chase Barrett; and three brothers, John L. Hunter, Jr., Robert Hunter, and Raymond Hunter.

Gloria’s funeral service will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at White Hall United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Phillips and Rev. Rob Walker officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Robinson & Fuller White Hall Chapel.
