JESSICA ANN SAHENE

-

passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2023, at the age of 40. She was born November 9, 1982, and lived most of her life in Little Rock, Ark. She is survived by her beloved son, Cooper Sahene, of Little Rock. Jessica was a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and best friend. Her love for her family was immense, especially for her son, who was the light of her life. As the middle child, Jessica was the common ground that drew her family together. Her personality and smile lit up every room that she walked into. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and a selfless giver. If she loved you and believed in you, she was your greatest cheerleader and would fight for you without considering the cost. Jessica earned a Master of Arts in Professional and Technical Writing in 2012 from UA Little Rock. Her passion, determination, work ethic, and stubbornness allowed her to accomplish this feat while also raising a toddler. She loved puns and fully supported the Oxford comma. Her creativity was boundless as evidenced by her ability to create and recreate anything presented to her. She loved words and was often found wearing shirts that succinctly and innovatively expressed her mood of the day. Jessica was authentic and real in her interactions with others. She never met a stranger and made friends with ease. Her happy place was practicing yoga with her friends. Just as Jessica was a gift in life to those who knew her, she became a gift in death to those to whom she donated her organs so that they might gain a new chance at life.

Jessica is preceded in death by her grandparents, Don and Doris Melius and Barney and Marguerite Sahene. In addition to her son, Cooper, Jessica is survived by her parents, John and Ruth Sahene; sister, Danielle (Reece) Hancock, and brother, Brian Sahene, all of Little Rock. She is also survived by her niece, Kate Hancock, and her nephew, Owen Hancock, both of Little Rock. Additionally, Jessica is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jessica’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock. A rosary will be offered for the repose of Jessica’s soul at 10 a.m., immediately prior to Mass. In honor of Jessica’s life, memorials may be made in Jessica’s name to Christ the King Catholic School, 4002 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Ark., 72212, or Catholic High School for Boys, 6300 Father Tribou Street, Little Rock, Ark., 72205. Eternal rest grant unto her and may the Perpetual Light shine up on her. May she rest in peace.
