LR partnership to show ‘Singles’ at Pocket Park
The Downtown Little Rock Partnership continues its summer tribute to the ’90s by screening the 1992 movie “Singles,” 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Ben E. Keith Pocket Park, 711 Main St., Little Rock. Bridget Fonda, Campbell Scott, Kyra Sedgwick, Sheila Kelley and Matt Dillon starred in director Cameron Crowe’s story of 20-somethings living in the same apartment complex coming to terms with real life in the grown-up world during the Seattle grunge era. ‘Sharknado’ redone
Movie theaters across the country, including the Movie Tavern in Little Rock, will screen “Sharknado: The 10th Anniversary Edition,” a newly remastered version of the film “with hundreds of new visual effects” and “never-before-seen kills and thrills,” according to a news release, 7 p.m. today and Wednesday. The plot involves a freak tornado that attacks Los Angeles with gale-force winds, metric tons of water “and thousands of nature’s most ruthless killers.” Ticket information is available at sharknado10th.com.
ART ‘Lakes and Rivers’
OZ Art NWA will mark the the unveiling of its newest artwork, “Lakes and Rivers” by artist Stefan Sagmeister, with a “community event,” 5-7 p.m. Friday at Ledger, 240 S. Main St., Bentonville. Participants can take part in artmaking, learn about Arkansas’ waterways and meet local vendors. The interactive exhibit features 13 varied species of local Ozarks insects, leading up to 95 unique mosaics embossed in concrete. The artist will take part in a question-and-answer session at 6 p.m. The first 100 attendees will receive a coupon for a free scoop from the Spark Cafe food truck on the Downtown Square; other giveaways will involve prizes including gift cards, swag, “and more.” Visit ozartnwa.com.
