KENNETH SANDUSKY,

-

affectionately known as ‘Po’, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the age of 96. Born December 17, 1926 in Stafford, Kan., his family moved to Little Rock in 1929. Soon thereafter the family purchased acreage in North Little Rock adjacent to what is now known as Burns Park. He attributed his long life and wonderful youth to the time he spent roaming the woods and river bank near his home.

Immediately upon graduation from North Little Rock High, he was drafted into the Army on June 15, 1945. He served proudly until March of 1947. Missing the camaraderie and adventure, he joined the Air Force and served until September 10, 1953. He fondly recalled his time spent on B29s during these years and was quoted often as saying ‘those were the best years of my life’. Following his military service, he worked with the United States Postal Service until retirement. After his retirement, he spent his time doing whatever the hell he wanted.

Some of Po’s favorite things were a strong cup of coffee, a piece of lemon icebox pie, a good bottle of beer, cars, driving on a long road trip, reading every word of a printed newspaper, donuts, and yard work. Po loved and lived for duck hunting. Starting in the summer months, he would begin counting the days until the season started. You were guaranteed an update of the count with each passing day.

Even when his memory began to fade, Po never lost his quick wit or sense of humor. He was bringing laughter to his family and caregivers up until the end.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Joe and Doris Sandusky; sister, Mary Lou Horton, and grandson Brandon Sink. He is survived by his daughters, Kelli Alford and Kristie Dunaway; son, Kenneth Brian Sandusky (Angie) and his beloved grandchildren Matthew Sink, Holden Dunaway and Jared, Brynn, Dax and Blakelee Alford.

A graveside service will be held at Pinecrest Memorial Park on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. The address is 7401 AR-5, Alexander, Ark.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.pinecrestfh.com for the Sandusky family.
