Mary Helen Gandy Oliver of Pine Bluff, was born February 16, 1933, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to J.T. “Jack” and Adorlee Perkins Gandy. She was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and later attended UAPB where she studied German. On February 4, 1952, she married the love of her life, Jack Edward Oliver.

As a young woman, she worked for Cotton Belt as a telegraphe­r until settling into her full-time role as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved sewing, reading, flower gardening and attending Bible study and teaching. She also enjoyed traveling and had taken many trips to Europe or crisscross­ed the United States and Canada in their motor home. Mary Helen was a faithful member of Pinnacle Church of Christ in Little Rock.

Mary Helen passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Jimmy Gandy.

Survivors include her daughters, Jackie Riley and husband, Mike, of Bella Vista, and Jill Mitchell and husband, Harold, of Pine Bluff; two grandchild­ren, Jonathan McNeill and wife, Kim, Paul Woolley and wife, Angie; great-grandson, Justin Woolley and fiancee, Anika; bonus great-granddaugh­ters, Lani, Lily, and Mariah; three bonus great-great-grandchild­ren; and her beloved dog, Chloe.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Cypress Memorial Gardens with Chuck Monan officiatin­g. Services were entrusted to the care of Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
