JEANNE BAUMGARDNER,

-

age 91, of Little Rock, died peacefully in her sleep September 27, 2023, at Arkansas Hospice. She was born December 15, 1931, in Little Rock to I.N. and Delta Summers Brundrett. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 60 years, Tom Baumgardner. Jeanne is survived by daughter, Pamela Dixon (Steve); son, Paul Baumgardner (Melissa); grandchildren, Lindsey Hosford, Marcus Hosford (Jessica), Tyler Baumgardner Schaller (Tyler), and Chaney Baumgardner; and one great-grandson, Lincoln Schaller. Jeanne graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and lived the majority of her adult life in El Dorado, where she was active in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, serving twice as president of the Episcopal Women. She was also active in Service League, Athena Club (twice president), and the YWCA (board president). Jeanne was an avid bridge player and achieved the status of Life Master. Jeanne was known for doing things “her way,” and her way was actually always the best way. She watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune up to the day she died. More often than not, she solved all of the puzzles on Wheel and answered the majority of the questions on Jeopardy. She worked crossword puzzles in ink and drank a glass of wine every evening at 5:00.

Jeanne lived the last six years of her life at Andover Place, an independent senior living community. Jeanne made many friends over the years there, but her two best friends were MJ and Ken. Fittingly, Ken called her Queen Jeanne. Jeanne was known for her perfect hair (once a week to the beauty parlor, not a salon) and her impeccable style. On one occasion, when she required a trip to the ER due to illness, Jeanne seriously pondered whether she had enough time to get her hair done prior to calling an ambulance. The family thanks the staff at Andover for all of their assistance and to Doug and his amazing staff at Independent Seniors of Arkansas for their personal care. Most of all, Jeanne loved her family dearly and, not surprisingly, was dearly loved in return. Cremation services provided by Youngs Funeral Directors, and condolences may be shared at www.youngsfuneralhome.com for the Baumgardner family.

Memorials can be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72210.
