CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. — Janie Maureen Bolitho,
71, of Cathedral City, Calif., formerly of Little Rock, Ark., passed away very unexpectedly on September 11, 2023. She was born May 6, 1952 in Minneapolis, Minn., the fourth of four girls to Hayes and Irene Bolitho. After graduating from high school in Richardson, Texas, Janie attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she earned a degree in social work. While waiting for a job opening in that field, she began working as a bank teller. This temporary job completely changed her career path to the world of data processing and ultimately brought her to Systematics in Little Rock, Ark. Janie remained with Systematics through several company mergers and personal relocations for her entire professional career. Janie was definitely a people person; if you were her friend, you could always count on her. When she retired to her home in the Palm Springs, Calif., area, she did so surrounded by friends, who had long ago made a pact to retire together. She loved to travel and made many enjoyable trips with her friends. She also spent many happy hours using her artistic ability to create fabulous paintings, often inspired by those travels, which adorned her home and that of many appreciative recipients. Janie was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jennifer Wilhelmi; and brotherin-law, George Osborne. She is survived by sisters, Judy Herron (Phil) of Little Rock, Ark., and Joan Osborne of Golden, Colo.; one niece, five nephews; six great-nieces, three great-nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great nephew. The hearts of family and friends are heavy today with the loss of Janie. Although she has left us physically, we all have wonderful memories of her joy and zeal for life to sustain us in this time of sadness. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten! There will be a celebration of life for Janie in California in the near future. Memorials may be sent to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, 1560 Sherman Ave., Evanston, Illinois, 60201-3698, or a charity of your choice.
