■ Patrick Heron, 54, a former Philadelph­ia police officer, was sentenced to 15 to 40 years in state prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting women and girls — often while in uniform and in the back of his police vehicle.

■ Danny Serafini, 49, and Samantha Scott, 33, were arrested in Nevada after a two-year investigat­ion in connection to a Lake Tahoe-area attack that left a 70-year-old man dead and his wife in critical condition.

■ Robert Williams, 48, of New York City’s Bronx borough, who served 14 years in a 2002 attempted murder case, was sentenced to 23 years to life in prison on first-degree attempted murder for shooting a pair of police officers just 12 hours apart in 2020.

■ Justin Lee, 25, a Montgomery County, Md., police officer who had not been an officer at the time of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, was arrested on charges including civil disorder and assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

■ Ron DeSantis, Republican presidenti­al candidate and governor of Florida, said in a news release in response to Hamas’ actions against Israel he’s “calling on the Florida Legislatur­e to act swiftly to ensure our state does not send a penny to the Iranian terror state.”

■ Daryl Clemmons, 43, turned himself in and was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action in the shooting of a youth football coach in an argument about his son’s playing time, authoritie­s said.

■ Jia Bei Zhu, 62, Chinese owner of an unauthoriz­ed central California lab that fueled conspiracy theories about China and biological weapons, has been arrested on charges of not obtaining the proper permits to manufactur­e tests for covid-19, pregnancy and HIV, and mislabelin­g some of the kits.

■ Cindy Crow, 36, of Decatur, Ala., was being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond after the body of her newborn baby was found inside a trash bag in a garbage bin behind a convenienc­e store, police said.

■ Rebecca Eddy, spokespers­on for the Connecticu­t Agricultur­e Department, said 30 cows that survived a truck rollover in Newtown are doing well and their owner is arranging transport to their destinatio­n in Ohio.
