LANGSTON (OKLA.) 51, ARKANSAS BAPTIST 20

Three players threw touchdown passes for Langston (5-2, 4-1 Sooner Athletic Conference), which blistered the Buffaloes on Saturday at W.E. Anderson Stadium in Langston, Okla.

Torrance Bardell was 12 of 19 for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns. while Wrentie Martin was 7 of 9 for 82 yards and 2 scores for the Lions, who led 31-0 at halftime and built a lead as big as 38-0 in the second half. Jailen Knight also completed all three of his passes for 53 yards with a touchdown. Bardell also had a rushing score.

Langston ended with 555 yards of offense and had 32 first downs compared to 11 for Arkansas Baptist (1-7, 1-6). The Buffaloes scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to make the game closer.

All three of Bardell’s touchdown passes came in the second quarter when the Lions turned a 10-0 lead into a 31-point advantage. Neither team scored in the third quarter, but Martin’s 27-yard score to Bryan Perry started a closing streak of points for Langston.

Desmond Wilkins hauled in a 4-yard touchdown pass for Arkansas Baptist. Atavian Ray had a 91-yard kickoff return for a score for the Buffaloes, who also ran a fumble back for a score.

DIVISION III

LYON 64, JOHN MELVIN (LA.) 25

The Scots (3-4) set a school record for points in a game during Saturday’s victory over the Millers.

Lyon’s scoring highs were in a 63-26 win over Morthland (Ill.) College in 2016 and a 61-0 win over Trinity (Texas) Bible College in 2017.

Eli Funck completed 21 of 28 passe for 280 yards with 5 touchdowns. Karson Douglas had 6 catches for 100 yards and 3 touchdowns. Aedan Huntsman and Reginald Brown also had touchdown receptions from Funck.

Kriston Belin led Lyon rushers with 141 yards and 2 touchdowns on 9 carries. Jaylin Babers also had a scoring run for the Scots.

Jesus Romero-Castillo kicked field goals of 22 and 32 yards to set the Lyon school scoring record.

HENDRIX 50, RHODES (TENN.) 49

Rhodes quarterbac­k Houston Wilhelm’s 2-point pass attempt to Brent Barlow failed with 21 seconds left, allowing the Warriors to defeat the Lynx on Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

Moments earlier, Wilhelm hit Barlow with a 17-yard touchdown pass. The Lynx elected to go for the win rather than a tying extra-point kick, but Wilhelm’s pass in the left corner of the end zone fell incomplete.

Hendrix (3-4, 3-2 Southern Athletic Associatio­n) led 50-43 after Josh Haynes hit Jason Sullivan with a 23-yard touchdown pass with 3:55 remaining. The Warriors had regained the lead in the back-and-forth affair with 9:59 left on Auvic White’s 1-yard touchdown run.

The Warriors led 15-14 after the first quarter, 29-21 at halftime and 36-35 after three quarters.

Hendrix’s Jacob Buniff was 23 of 33 for 274 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 intercepti­on, while Hayes was 7 of 7 for 106 yards and 1 score. Christian Gadison had 7 catches for 89 yards and Almonzo Payne finished with 6 receptions for 88 yards. Sullivan, Bryler Nitcholas and Tanner Grimes had touchdown catches for the Warriors.

Parker Turley led Hendrix rushers with 67 yards and 2 TDs on 5 carries.
