Surgeon claims another award
Internationally renowned facial plastic and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Jim English has been practicing his craft for more than 30 years. His work and commitment to his patients have contributed to English being named a finalist for Best Cosmetic Surgeon in the Arkansas DemocratGazette’s Best of the Best readers’-choice awards.
English grew up in Saline County, and after spending time abroad, he knew he wanted to come back home to practice and give back to his community.
“I like Arkansas. It’s been good for me and good to me, and I wanted to give back,” he said. “I wanted to learn as much as I could abroad, then relocate back here after my subspecialty training and practice for the population and people here in the state of Arkansas.”
After 35 years of practice, English has built a rapport like no other. He is triple-certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology.
“Over the years, I’ve been very fortunate,” he said. “Now I have people coming from all over the United States to see me.”
And although he acknowledges his longstanding reputation, he knows there are many great surgeons out there, so he remains thankful for his continuous support and recognition.
“Surgeons usually time out after the sixth and seventh decades of life,” English said. “So to be relevant today with so much new talent coming up through the ranks, it’s a blessing to know that I have not been put to the pasture.”
At English’s practice, he offers a variety of services, including surgical procedures for the face, breasts, body and skin, as well as nonsurgical procedures such as facials, permanent cosmetics, injectables, and laser and acne treatments.
“It takes a long time for a surgeon to master his field of endeavor,” he said. “I hate to say this, but we learn once we get out of training what works and doesn’t work. So over decades of practice and experience, we can spot something and pretty much determine whether or not it’s a true method or something that is a flash in the pan.”
