BEST HOSPITAL BEST COMPANY TO WORK FOR (>250) FINALIST: BEST HEARING CENTER Arkansas Children’s Hospital >>

The only pediatric health care system in the state, Arkansas Children’s works to make Arkansas a safer, healthier place to be a child. Initiatives such as offering primary care in underserved areas, recruiting some of the nation’s top subspecialty physicians and investing in the advancement of health care research and innovation are some of the ways Arkansas Children’s is making a difference.

Commitment to both patients and employees has earned the organization many awards through the years, including in the 2023 Best of the Best voting. Arkansas Children’s won Best Hospital and Best Company to Work For (>250) and was a finalist in the category of Best Hearing Center.

“Our unique culture of clinical expertise and teamwork across specialties lets us diagnose, treat and monitor a wide range of health concerns,” said Crystal Kohanke, senior vice president and chief people officer. “From the most common to the most complex conditions, we work together to deliver a kind, thoughtful, family-centered experience.

“Our team members are vital to delivering the exceptional care and experience our patients expect. We want them to feel the same commitment from the organization that they extend to others, which is why we developed a Total Rewards Program supporting team members’ well-being through financial security, access to top-tier health care, work-life integration, career journey and recognition for a job well done.”

The hospital’s commitment to its four core values — safety, teamwork, compassion and excellence — frames team members’ work every day, placing people front and center and aggressively pursuing excellence in all areas of operations. Kohanke said the core values are living documents, embodied by each and every employee.

“What makes Arkansas Children’s different is that the team very much understands and works toward those core values daily,” she said. “Safety and excellence frame our work. Teamwork and compassion place people at the center of all we do. These values inform every decision and every action, from the aggressive pursuit of zero hospital infections to treating each family with dignity, kindness and concern.”

Kohanke also said the validation of awards determined by the public, such as Best of the Best, are especially gratifying.

“Arkansas Children’s is honored that our community has voted us as a leader among hospitals and places to work in Arkansas,” she said. “We are laser-focused on what is best for our patients, families and team members and are certainly proud that this is recognized.”
